**We are seeking the right Direct Support Professional to work 1:1 with a client. Experience in the field is preferred!**

**SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF THIS STAFF**
•Male
•Love of the outdoors and going out every day even in not-so-great weather
•Physical capability to run, hike, bike and other outdoor activities
•Unafraid of drawing with client (stick figures are great!)
•Dependably working your shift
•Be able to work 1:1 with a client with little interaction with co-workers
•Ability to communicate in short sentences with concrete language and ‘interpret’ when needed
•Ability to effectively communicate with a treatment team when needed
•Ability to read, understand, and implement comprehensive Behavior Support Plans and communicate with Behavior Specialist when needed
•Must be willing to accept and give criticism and feedback
•Ability to ask for help
•Have organizational-scheduling skills
•Professional Boundaries (friend vs. staff)
•The ability to see the good in a person and situation
•Keen observation to seemingly insignificant detail is most important
•Patience and an aura of calmness (when a client is in your face loudly repeating a phrase for example)
•Commitment to the program
•Unafraid to be the ‘bad guy’ (saying no, setting boundaries, teaching natural consequences)

Duties:

Other Direct Support Professional Duties:

•Support individuals as needed in daily living activities such as personal and health management, communication, self-advocacy, realizing personal and educational goals, meal planning and preparation, shopping, housekeeping, laundry, basic home maintenance and safety, recreation, home management, financial management and decision making.
•Utilize feedback from individuals, program team members, friends, family and the ISP Team to develop Individual Support Plans using the Oregon ISP Process.
•Work with program team members to implement Individual Service Plans as approved by the individual’s ISP Team, seeking ISP Team approval for modifications to the ISP as needed to assure appropriate and quality supports.
•Promote community inclusion for individuals through typical community activities.
•Teach self-advocacy skills and promote independence. .
•Support individuals as needed in developing friendships and establishing desired relationships with peers.
•Complete household chores to the extent necessary to maintain high standards of health and safety, sanitation and building maintenance.
•Assist in maintaining records of medical and dental treatments, petty cash funds and individual funds entrusted to the company as assigned by a supervisor.
•Administer medication to individuals requiring such support.
•Attend all team meetings and training programs as required.
•Transport individuals in company vehicles as required.
•Job requirements may include assisting residents with gait support, although absolutely no lifting of residents is allowed.
•Job requirements may include to lifting items up to 25lbs.
•Cooperate with company and regulatory agency personnel during any inspection or investigation.
•Prepare required and requested reports.
•Report suspected client rights violations or suspected client neglect, abuse or exploitation to Lane County Developmental Disability Services, then to management, per the OAR requirements.
•Communicate professionally on any client matters, as necessary, with clients’ families and/or guardian, employers and community resources.
•Exhibit clear, consistent emotional and professional boundaries and an ability to be appropriately assertive
•Act as a role model by treating both clients and co-workers with respect and dignity.
•Provide ample social interaction for the clients and offer frequent and genuine positive reinforcement.
•Communicate concerns assertively with fellow staff and supervisors in a timely manner.
•Train and welcome new staff into the homes.

Qualifications:

•High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred.
•Must be at least 18 years of age
•Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License, and be insurable by the agency’s carrier (must be 21yrs/older to be insured by our agency, must have ).
•Must obtain and maintain, with agency assistance, certification in CPR, First Aid, and Oregon Intervention Systems (OIS)
•Must meet employment requirements listed in the Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs)
•Must pass a Criminal Records Background Check performed by the Department of Human Services
