Description:

Summary: Assists in supervising security personnel, while ensuring the safety and security of employees, guests and property.

Duties:

Essential Job Functions:
• Assists in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shift by scheduling staff and appropriate training, maintaining safety and security throughout the Casino by ensuring all policies, regulations, and procedures are followed.
• Assists in monitoring required reports and documents, writes and delivers employee evaluations, conducts interviews, disciplinary actions and terminations as needed.
• Ensures accurate reporting of all violations or safety concerns throughout the Casino.
• Assists in managing and accounting for controlled gambling supplies including dice, cards, bingo balls, slot paper and other materials and equipment.
• Assists the Security Manager and Shift Supervisor with special investigations and/or technical reports; completes special projects as needed.
• Acts as the Manager on Duty when required.

• Learns comprehends and complies with all Company and departmental policies and procedures, MICS, gaming regulations, and Regulation 31 requirements.
• Follows all Corporate and departmental safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Assists in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws and in alignment with SMGI’s Pride Values, Brand Promise and Business Vision.
• Interviews and trains employees.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work, appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems for employees as well as guests.
• Makes recommendations to the Manager for hiring and staff separations in accordance with company policies.

Required Knowledge of:
• Gaming regulations and Minimum Internal Controls.
• Principles and practices of Casino security.
• Regulations and requirements of the State of Oregon Liquor Control Commission.
• Computer hardware and software applications.
• Supervisory principles, practices and methods.

Required Skill in:
• Performing Casino security tasks and activities.
• Investigating situations and determining the best course of action from numerous possibilities.
• Testing and performing emergency procedures and evacuation plans.
• Supervising, leading, and delegating tasks and authority.
• Operating computer hardware and software applications.
• Communicating both orally and in writing.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.

Education, Experience, Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:
• Associate’s Degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field, and two (2) years experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid State of Oregon Driver’s License AND current car insurance.
• High security gaming license issued by the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
• Work is normally performed in a gaming environment, frequently exposed to loud noise and tobacco smoke.
• Work is normally subject to standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling and occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
• Occasional exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather, and Oleo Resin Capsicum.
• Must be able to pass random drug tests in accordance with Company policy.

Equipment and Tools Utilized:
• Equipment utilized includes personal computer, standard office equipment, telephone, audio/video equipment, chemical weapons, two-way radio, and department vehicles.
